Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Biarritz Elegant and aristocratic, the celebrated seaside resort of Biarritz enjoys a magnificent setting on the Bay of Biscay in France's Basque country. Biarritz was a favorite summertime destination of the Empress Eugénie (wife of Napoleon III) who transformed the sleepy fishing village into a fashionable beach town. To entertain her court, the empress built a grand palace, which is now a luxurious hotel with a Michelin-starred restaurant. Beyond this exquisite villa by the sea, the names of the streets in Biarritz hint at the city's royal past: Avenue de l'Impératrice, Avenue de la Reine Victoria, and Esplanade Elizabeth II. Handsome mansions decked with turrets and oriel windows recall the city's 19th-century splendors. Though the regal influence of ...

Finnair´s video ambassador, film maker and surfer Chris Nemes introduces his current hometown Biarritz, a beautiful seaside town on the Bay of Biscay in South West France. Biarritz or "Paris by the sea" as the locals call it, offers everything one could ask for from a perfect, relaxing feel-good location from beach to little restaurants, coffee- and chocolate shops and outdoor cafes. Nemes fell in love with the place the first time he visited it and never left and now he spends his days surfing world class waves, eating mouthwatering delicacies and skateboarding in the sunny Biarritz, that is full of nature and old world charm. This short video documents my move to the beautiful region of France in the part known as the Pays Basque. In the video you'll see a little bit of Biarritz and Bayonne and my experiences during my first two days after my arrival to Pays Basque (Basque Country).
When you find yourself in downtown Biarritz, you get the impression of a much larger city. Believe it or not, it has a permanent population of less than 30,000, but when you count the adjacent towns of Anglet and Bayonne it is closer to 120,000. It was a traditional fishing and whaling settlement until Empress Eugenie (the wife of Napoleon III) arrived and built a Palace here in 1854. Through her connections the town became popular with Queen Victoria and Edward VII, so to keep the hangers-on occupied, a casino was built in 1901 which remains a big attraction to this day. The Palace is now the Hôtel du Palais, one of France's most famous and luxurious hotels. The Palais sits on a privileged position looking west along the beach, with large-scale portraits of the Emperor and Empress inside....
Finally got my tan back and returned to the beach! I feel like most people who aren't French are not aware of the beaches in Biarritz, which is on France's southwestern Coast and they absolutely should! I honestly want to live here one day, it's almost identical to my hometown in San Diego but French style. It's got beautiful beaches, waves, cute city, amazing food, and friendly people. This is my second time visiting Biarritz and I know I will be back soon! ✔PATREON: where's poppy (Thanks for the Support!) https://www.patreon.com/wherespoppy ✔TRAVEL BLOG: whereispoppy https://whereispoppy.wordpress.com ✔INSTAGRAM: @wheres.poppy https://www.instagra...

Lying at the heart of the Basque country and at the foot of the Pyrenees, Biarritz is a welcoming town with a sporting side to it. Known as the European capital of surfing, Biarritz also has a reputation as a golfing hotspot. This charming seaside resort nestles in the cradle of the Atlantic ocean, and acts as a gateway to Spain. The town turned from quiet fishing port into elegant holiday resort when the monarchy began to holiday here, in the early 19th century. Now you can find top quality seafood restaurants and tapas bars here: take advantage! The phare or Biarritz lighthouse overlooks the Landes sands and the Basque country rocks. From the top of the lighthouse (if you have the energy to tackle the 248 steps) the viewing platform offers a spectacular view: you can see as far as the ...
Biarritz is a city on the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department in southwestern France, 35 kilometres (22 mi) from the border with Spain. It is a luxurious seaside tourist destination known for the Hôtel du Palais (originally built for the Empress Eugénie around 1855,) its casinos, and its surfing culture. Biarritz became more renowned in 1854 when Empress Eugenie (the wife of Napoleon III) built a palace on the beach (now the Hôtel du Palais). European royalty, including British monarchs Queen Victoria and King Edward VII (who caused a minor scandal when he called H. H. Asquith to kiss hands at Biarritz in 1908 rather than return to London for the purpose), and the Spanish king Alfonso XIII, were frequent visitors. Biarritz's casino (opened 10 Au...
After having the early surflesson in the morning we decided to roll south the coast to the wonderful town Biarritz. After 8000 traffic circles we arrived (I already had sunburn) and were absolutely in love with this place. You can find some beautfiul bays and a lighthouse there, do cliffjumping, enjoy the typical mediterran alleys or visit the local ocean museum and say hi to the most friendly seals I ever met. And of course, don't miss the sunset surfsession! Biarritz, an elegant seaside town on southwestern France’s Basque coast, has been a popular resort since European royalty began visiting in the 1800s. It’s also a major surfing destination, with long sandy beaches and surf schools. A symbol of Biarritz, the Rocher de la Vierge is a rocky outcrop topped with a statue of the Virgin Mary. Reached via footbridge, it offers sweeping views of the Bay of Biscay.

When I finished exploring the town on foot, I decided to learn how to longboard. After just one lesson with my boyfriend I was out on the streets skating through Biarritz! I had so much fun that literally the next day, I found myself in a longboard shop buying my first board. Realizing that I had a flight the day after, and that I was probably going to have to pay extra for my bag because of the size of the board, I wasn't even phased because I was too excited to skate! ✔PATREON: where's poppy (Thanks for the Support!) https://www.patreon.com/wherespoppy ✔TRAVEL BLOG: whereispoppy https://whereispoppy.wordpress.com ✔INSTAGRAM: @wheres.poppy https://...
